If you are currently experiencing it, you will need to identify which food makes IBS symptoms manifest by having trial and error on your diet. It is because not all the food which causes the disorder is intolerable for the same people.

Once a person is diagnosed of having this kind of disorder, the first step to be taken is to have a strict diet. Generally, cutting down on some food groups that are probable cause of IBS would result to deprivation on nutrition. Some of the food groups have certain nutrition that our boy need but you can simply take them in because of the disorder. So in that case, better start identifying which of the food groups is the strongest trigger of IBS. Then slash it off from your diet. Here are some of the food groups that you can consider for observation:

* milk and dairy products such as processed cheese
* chocolates and other sweet products including sugar and artificial sweeteners
* alcoholic beverages and also sugar alcohol drinks
* high-caffeine drinks such as coffee and tea
* vegetables like broccoli, corn, cauliflower and cabbage adds gas to your stomach
* starchy foods such as potatoes, pasta, squash, and rice

Though listed above are food triggers for IBS, the following are best on the diet list for people with IBS:

* foods that contain soluble fiber like oatmeal, banana and white bread
* foods that contain insoluble fiber like raw vegetables and fruits (this excludes the trigger fruits and vegetables
* tofu which is a great source of protein and easy to digest
* Pro-biotic elements which provide good bacteria in the gut to strengthen the digestive system like yoghurt

If you’re worried and somewhat depressed about the change of diet, don’t be! It really doesn’t mean that you should forget about those foods that you used to eat. In avoiding the food triggers, you’ll just have to deal with it for a matter of time until your digestive system comes to a stable condition. You can gradually return some of the cut down foods in your diet. However, you still need to take note on that. Don’t surprise your stomach by bringing those foods all at once.

Try to feel if the foods you are trying to get back don’t trigger the attack then your stomach has adjusted and you can now start consuming them again. Though it’s somewhat time-consuming for the identification process but it’s the only way you can work it out.
